Are these little guys adorable or what? Whether you purchased a pumpkin that I created or made your own in one of my workshops, there are a few tips to making your pumpkin last!
1) Since the pumpkin has not been cut, as long as it is not bruised in any way it should last through the fall holidays...perfect for your Thanksgiving table! Be careful to place it where it will not fall and be damaged.
2) Because the flowers are dried, take care to not place your pumpkin in a damp area. The humidity in bathrooms and on outdoor porches may cause your flowers to get droopy as they reabsorb the moisture that I worked hard to get out of them!
3) Once the fall holidays are over, don't throw your flowers away! Since they are arranged on a bed of moss, carefully take a fork and lift the moss off of the pumpkin along with the flowers. In some cases, it will all come off in one piece! Whether in one piece or several, you cut tuck your flowers away in a dry box and save them to glue onto a pumpkin next year! If you came to one of my pumpkin workshops, then you know that they can also be used to make cute Christmas ornaments!
4) If your pumpkin is still unblemished and solid, you can cut it up and cook with it. Otherwise, toss it in the compost pile or chicken coop...chickens love pumpkins!
